What does it take to think differently about complex problems?

The article “Before this Decade is OUT…” calls for national leadership and an organising effort of the dimensions of the moon shot, to face the public sector challenge and the opportunities in this digital era.

If human endeavour can put a man on the moon within a decade of the vision being articulated – more than 50 years ago – why then, in this Internet age and after more than a decade, are we still talking about putting government forms and services online?

From a public sector perspective, we need to think differently about complex problems.

And what could we learn from the giants of the web; the Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital in London; the Ferrari Formula One Racing Team; the UK Government Digital Service (GDS); and the Pentagon’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)? Surely there is no common thread of insight to be gleaned from this diverse and eclectic grouping of organisations?
